The Minister of Defense, Mansur Dan-Ali, has called for the suspension of the implementation of the anti-grazing law.

The minister said that the suspension will reduce the tension in troubled states. He disclosed this on today after a security meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital. According to the minister, “There is a need for the Nigeria police and Department of State Services to prosecute all the suspects arrested in the affected states while negotiating safe routes for the herders. The meeting comes after series of calls by the governors of Benue, Taraba, Rivers and Ekiti calling for an end to the anti-open grazing law. The Federal Government and other security agencies had been accused of neglecting and poorly handling the killings of innocent Nigerians in the troubled states. Osinbajo meets IGP, DSS chief, AGF in Aso Rock

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo today met behind closed doors with the Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, the Director- General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Malami Abubakar. The IGP declined comments on the outcome of the parley and instead directed journalists who approached him to meet Osinbajo’s staff on the outcome of the meeting. Before the meeting, Osinbajo, Abubakar Malami, and Daura were seen around President Muhammadu Buhari’s office separately. It is widely speculated that the meeting was connected with the Police invitation of the Senate President Bukola Saraki over the Offa Bank robbery. In a dramatic twist and perhaps as a fallout of the meeting, the police has asked the Senate president to respond to the allegations within 48 hours.

RESTORATION CUP 2018: Peretorugbene FC emerge first prize winners

A most competitive tournament by all standards, the Second Henry Seriake Dickson Football Tournament popularly known as Restoration Cup 2018 has finally come to a most thrilling end yesterday at the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa. Up for the first prize of 5 Million Naira were the two finalists Peretorugbene FC and Opu-Nembe FC who both displayed great sportsmanship and determination throughout the duration of thematch. At the end of the day, the supremacy and prowess of Peretorugbene FC came to fore as they proved to be the better of both teams sending Opu-Nembe FC packing after a 2-1 goal count as at full time. It wasn’t a total disappointment for Opu-Nembe FC as they received the second prize of 3 Million Naira while third place winners Otuasega FC went home with N500,000.
