GOVERNOR DICKSON PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT ON CHIEF E.K. CLARK

The Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has visited Ijaw    National Leader, Pa Edwin Clark, to condole with him on the death of his son, Chike.     Dickson described the death of the 43 year old Chike as sudden, sad and untimely and prayed to God to give the elder statesman and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.     He said that he, the Bayelsa people and indeed the Ijaw nation were shocked by the painful occurrence.     He encouraged the elder statesman for the strength to pull himself together in spite of the sad occurrence.     The Governor assured the Ijaw National Leader of   the support of the people especially in his moment of trial.     “We are here and before the interment, we will still be here. BAYELSA RECEIVES 2015 REPORT ON ELECTORAL VIOLENCE, VOWS TO PUNISH OFFENDERS

The Bayelsa State Executive Council on Wednesday vowed to ensure that sponsors and perpetrators of electoral violence in the state are made to face the full weight of the law.  At its 100 meeting presided over by Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, the council said it took the decision following the submission of the report by the Judicial Commission of Inquiry on the 2015 general elections.  The council said the mayhem that was brought on the state by desperate politicans cannot be overlooked and therefore called for the white paper on the report in order to take steps to punish all those found culpable.  Briefing journalists after the centenary meeting, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Kemela Okara said the council took time to deliberate on the issue because of its importance. The Bayelsa State Executive Council has condemned in strong terms the worsening security situation in the state, occasioned by the frequent change of Police Commissioners. The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson stated this in Yenagoa while briefing the media on the outcome of the council's 99th meeting. He said the erratic deployment of security operatives across the country, ostensibly for political reasons in opposition states like Bayelsa "calls for serious concern and demands the need for urgent action to be taken to address the situation". Iworiso-Markson stated that in the last three months, Bayelsa has had eight commissioners of police which is very worrisome and called for caution. The Government spokesman said they view the action as highly subversive, capable of threatening the existing peaceful, harmonious, united and conducive environment the Restoration Government has worked so hard to put in place, which h
