GBENGA OLAWEPO HASSHIM REMAINS THE BEST CHOICE FOR NIGERIANS IN THE FORTHCOMING PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS: PT NATIONAL YOUTH LEADER
PEOPLES TRUST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE GBENGA OLAWEPO HASHIM (L) OBSERVES PROCEEDING IN COMPANY OF PARTY CHAIRMAN AND RENOWN ACTIVIIST AND LEGAL LUMINARY CHIEF OLISA AGBAKOBA (R) |
National Youth Leader of the Peoples Trust Party (PT) Hon.
Olu Adekunle has reaffirmed the position of the party and its teeming
supporters that its Presidential Candidate Gbenga Olawepo Hasshim , remains the
best choice for Nigerians in the forthcoming presidential elections scheduled
for February 16, 2019.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony for the PT Presidential Campaign
held on Saturday January 12, 2019 at the Old Parade Ground located in the
nation’s capital, Abuja, Adekunle was emphatic on the sterling qualities of the
presidential candidate, describing him as a welcome departure from the usual
faces that have somewhat obscured the Nigerian
political landscape. A situation Nigerians have grown weary of.
According to Hon. Adekunle, “Gbenga Olawepo Hashim is untainted by Nigeria’s political culture which
has come to be characterized by greed, lack of vision, nepotism and corruption
as exemplified by the actions of our present crop of leaders. He is a renowned
activist whose democratic credentials speak volumes of his understanding of how
to run a complex state like Nigeria. He is also knowledgeable on matters of
economic management, having spent a greater part of his life as an entrepreneur
and job creator through his vast business empire. Unlike his contemporaries,
GOH has never relied on government patronage for survival and his successes in
business and other fields only go to show that he is a man who is courageous
and one who definitely has the necessary competence”.
Speaking further, Adekunle stated that Gbenga Olawepo Hashim
has all the qualities of the type of leader Nigeria needs in these trying times
when Nigerian’s are in search of a leader they can trust. He added; “GOH is gifted with rare intellect. He is versatile
and I believe he will bring his vast experience and knowledge to bear in
running the affairs of state. He is a bridge between the young and the old
being himself a relatively young man. He is a bridge between the north and the
south if we consider his ancestral roots. He is passionate about the masses. He
is patriotic and one of the few truly nationalist inclined candidates who
bestride the political arena today. He has never been enmeshed in controversy
and his humble disposition shows that he is a person who is God fearing. By
presenting himself for service even when big names are being bandied by other
parties, GOH has shown that he is a man of courage, one who is focused and one
who can’t be stopped if he believes in a cause. In other words, he is resilient
and determined”.
On the chances of victory for PT at the February polls, Hon.
Adekunle had this to say: “We are confident of victory. We are not
playing the politics of money as other parties may be wont to do; rather our
approach has been to appeal to the sense of patriotism of all Nigerians. We are
conversant with the issues on ground and are aware that we have no other
country but this one, so we must all come together to make it better. Our
problem has never been the lack of resources nor the lack of ideas. It has
instead been the lack of good leaders who truly have the love of country at
heart. Our challenge has been the lack of vision and political will. Our party,
through our candidate is set to right these wrongs and we do strongly believe
that based on this premise alone, our country men and women will come out in
their numbers to cast their votes for us. Though we are a young party, we are
today ranked as the number 3 party to be contented with after the APC and the
PDP. In a very short while, we will overtake them. You see, Peoples Trust is
not a party for just this election; it is a party that has come to stay. We
will form government. I believe this”.
According to Olu Adekunle, the youths have a major role to
play in the outcome of the elections and appealed to the teeming youth of
Nigeria to support the candidature of Gbenga Olawepo Hashim towards victory
come February. He decried the present situation of the youth whose development
he claimed has been stifled due to the lack of direction of past governments. “Our youth have never had it so bad. They
have been subjected to all manner of demeaning, unwholesome and life
threatening activities in the name of survival. Lack of jobs, lack of opportunities
to develop their God given talents, insecurity and the absence of a reliable
social security framework to support our young men and women are factors that
have continued to work against their progress. These are also areas the
incoming government of GOH intends to tackle head on. It is disheartening to
note that the economies of developed countries are being powered by youth who
continue to dominate and distinguish themselves in the areas of business,
governance, technology, sports, medicine, entertainment and academics amongst
others. They have been able to do this because favorable conditions have been
provided and because the respective countries are keenly aware that the youth
are the future. The need for us to provide such conducive environments for our
youth cannot be overemphasized. Gbenga Olawepo Hashim is in touch with the realities
of the challenges faced by our youth. He is passionate about their welfare and
has developed a veritable blueprint that will address these issues”.
HON. OLU ADEKUNLE, NAT. YOUTH LEADER, PEOPLES TRUST PARTY |
Speaking further, Hon. Adekunle called on the Nigerian youth
to ensure that they vote for Peoples Trust since it has proven to be the most
viable alternative and the only party that is not carrying unnecessary political
baggage which would ordinarily work against its progress. “We are not carrying any excess political baggage like other parties, so we do
not intend to compromise on our promises. Recently, INEC released the list of
registered voters. From the list, youth between the ages of 18-35 alone make up
over 42 million out of a total of an estimated total of 84 million plus voters.
Again, those within the 35-50 years age range make up another 22 million plus
bringing the total of registered youth to roughly 64 million plus. With this
kind of voter strength on the part of the youth, there is a need for them to
understand that they hold the keys to a brighter future and a better Nigeria.
This election is about them! They mustn’t waste their votes on the basis of
empty promises. They mustn’t sell their votes because that would be tantamount
to selling their future. All our youth must go out and vote and thereafter defend
their votes”!
